Project

Interactive installation - Research-Based

Plants emit vibrations, sounds that humans cannot hear, to communicate with other plants and their environment. For a long time, scientists and philosophers such as Aristotle assumed that plants, because they can't move and can't emit sounds, are inferior species. Yet, today scientist such as Monica Gagliano and her book "Thus, spoke the plant", suggest that they might have a sonic "language". Humans, for so long, gave a wrong judgment, limited to their perception faculties.
This project is an inquiry about the possibility to connect to vibrations that we cannot hear. It questions weather if technology, using translations methods created by humans can truly help us to connect with plants.

The installation invites the audience to feel the vibrations of plants, wearing a glove connected to the plants. The computer translating the datas into felt vibrations, cover into a mysterious cloud, invite to question the human translation operating in this relationship. What is the sensor truly sensing? Is is important for you to know what is being sensed? Is this technological mediation important, for you to feel connected to the plant?
How can plants and human resonate?
